Sky is launching the UK's first 3D TV channel this Sunday with the screening of a live sports event in nine pubs across the UK.
The Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester will be viewed in 3D in selected pubs in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
"People have already embraced 3D cinema and because Sky's 3D service uses the same kind of technology, we're confident there will be demand for sport, movies, concerts and drama in 3D," said Gerry O'Sullivan, Sky's director of strategic product development.
The broadcaster's 3D channel will be rolled out to hundreds of other pubs from April.
Later in 2010, it will become available to all Sky+HD customers, offering a wide range of content.
In other news, despite the recession, wireless technology and gadgets like 3DTV will be popular in 2010, according to an expert.
Nikki Moore, gadget expert for the BBC's Something for the Weekend programme, stated that consumers will continue to invest in these kind[s?] of gadgets even after the holiday period.
