Revenue starting to appear from social networking

Revenue starting to appear from social networking

Computer manufacturer Dell has announced it has managed to make a profit through the use of its social networking capabilities.

The company has revealed its use of social network Twitter has resulted in an impressive return on investment, suggesting the IT industry could use the technology to significantly build its income in the years to come.

As a result, people in IT careers who have a good understanding of how to use social networks could be in greater demand in the near future, as businesses seek to enhance their income through the technology.

However, a recent survey released by New Media Age has found that 74 per cent of the companies listed on the Superbrands Top 500 do not have an online presence at all.

That suggests many more organisations could soon be looking to invest in the IT industry and search for people who have established IT careers to help them build an online presence.

Search engine giant Google has recently announced changes to its search functions, meaning results will be delivered in real-time in the future.

Experts have suggested this change could have a significant impact on the IT industry, as social networks will become increasingly important to a company's search engine optimisation strategy.
