Restoration project utilising IT skills of the next generation

19:20 28th November 2008

A restoration project in Carmathenshire is harnessing the IT skills of young people, reports the BBC.

Llanelly House, which was a 2003 finalist in the BBC2 Restoration programme, hopes to capture the imagination of young people with an online computer game based on the restoration project.

Llanelly House Hunt combines IT training with architecture and property development so that skills-training is developed across the industries.

Lisa Bancroft, community development manager for the restoration project, told the website: "Young people are key to the success of this project and we want to get them involved from the very beginning - and what better way than by having real fun at the very start."

The £5 million restoration project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

BBC2's Restoration series presents a new form of reality TV entertainment with viewers voting to fund the restoration of one out of a number of projects in need of renovation.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18902893-ADNFCR
