The global recession will not result in the number of PCs being bought across the world decreasing during 2009, as the IT industry continues to grow, a new report has forecast.
According to the latest figures from industry analyst firm Gartner, there will be a 2.8 per cent growth in the market this year, although revenues will fall during the same period as manufacturers seek to offload their goods more cheaply.
The increase in shipments demonstrates the continued vigour within the IT industry despite the global downturn and suggests there remain good opportunities for people in IT careers, as businesses are increasingly looking to IT as a way to cut their overall expenditure.
Earlier this year, it was suggested that the next decade will be dominated by the IT industry, as experts predict the sector will lead the world out of recession with new employment opportunities.
