Shoppers using their credit cards to shop online are exposed to fraud, an expert has said.
"What we have seen since the introduction of chip and pin is a reduction of card cloning and card skimming on transactions in high street shops," said Sarah Blaney, card fraud expert at life assistance company CPP.
But she went on to say: "With chip and pin fraud being reduced, fraudsters are only going to look elsewhere, and the next obvious stop is online, with the rise in people who now like to do online shopping."
Her views emerged as data from life CPP revealed that over a quarter of adults claim to have been victims of fraud at least once.
In other news, the UK's Cyber Security Knowledge Transfer Network has backed a Conservative Party's plan on national security that includes some aspects on cyber security.
During the launch of the green paper last week, Conservative Party leader David Cameron acknowledged the existence of hundreds of thousands of cyber attacks to British businesses every year.
