The year ahead is expected to throw up many challenges in the job market so prospective employees are being urged to harness IT technology to their advantage by an online recruitment specialist.
Applying for jobs online can yield good results for those who adapt their CVs to show they have invested time and awareness into their application, advises David Hurst, managing director of the online recruitment site Onrec.com.
Including keywords in a CV is one particularly effective way of being considered for a position if those sifting through candidates are using the latest technology to highlight those with the skills they are seeking.
Mr Hurst commented: "It's a good idea to include as many keywords as you can in your CV because to find a CV online there is software that will simply go through the CVs selecting the most relevant ones, so people should think about where they are applying and tailor their CV accordingly."
The Monster Employment Index reported an increase in online recruitment within the telecommunications sector.
