Hospital staff in Wales are set to take part in a pilot scheme that could improve their IT training.
According to an announcement from NHS Wales, hospital employees in IT jobs will now be given a single phone number for technical support.
Using software called Servicepoint, the system will allow IT service desks to manage national and local calls more easily and will be implemented in Hywel Dda before being rolled out across the country.
Individuals in the IT industry might take an interest in the news since it brings the system in line with global best practice in service management standards.
Hywel Dda assistant director of informatics Robin Jones commented: "[This new service] will greatly improve the current service desk, bringing together the disparate arrangements into a single coherent service that is fit for purpose."
Some 400 NHS Wales staff have also received IT training, including 100 in IT Infrastructure Library concepts.
In related news, computers that offer an instant health check to pensioners are being installed in homes across Yorkshire to reduce hospital admissions, Yorkshire Post reports.
