Motorola announced today (January 6th) that it is launching a new mobile phone that is environmentally-friendly and encompasses the principles of corporate social responsibility.
The OTO W233 Renew is an innovative new device, due to be unveiled at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and is the world's first mobile phone made out of recycled water bottles.
Designed in partnership with Carbonfund.org, the phone is recyclable and entirely carbon neutral.
Carbon emissions during the manufacturing process have been offset by investing in renewable energy projects and funding tree-planting.
Jeremy Dale, corporate vice president, marketing, Motorola mobile devices, commented: "Today, natural resources, energy and time are more precious than ever before. From the product's design, to the packaging to our partnership with Carbonfund.org, we wanted to ensure that this device makes the right impact with consumers and the environment."
The International Consumer Electronics Show first took place in 1967 with 200 exhibitors and now has grown to accommodate 2,700 exhibitors.
