Microsoft has announced the release of two free Security Development Lifestyle (SDL) tools in a bid to help software creators write secure code.
According to the company, software developers are increasingly finding the security of their code put to the test as cybercriminals step up their attacks to take advantage of any vulnerability they can find for financial purposes.
The first tool is a guide designed to help developers adopt the SDL without increasing cost or cutting time to market, while the second is a beta version of a template for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 for applying SDL methods to agile or iterative software development process.
In other news, European governments should open up wireless networks and deliver affordable broadband spectrum to support cloud computing, according to Microsoft general counsel.
"Continuity of access will encourage consumers to make greater use of cloud computing services and SMEs to focus more on developing new content and services," said Brad Smith.
