The IT industry is currently assessing the performance of Microsoft's newest operation system (OS), which is now available to businesses.
Windows 7 is designed around customer feedback, says Microsoft, and helps users switch quickly between applications.
Reviewing the OS for Network World, Matt Lake said burning some files is easier and the system allows for a quicker start-up time.
It is also now much easier to find files than before; good news for people in computing careers who invariably have many folders to organise.
Using Windows 7's Libraries shortcut and Jump Lists, users will find their way around workflows easier, he commented.
That said, according to Mr Lake the OS has too many versions and its nifty graphics drain the power of lower-specified machines.
There remain other serious competitors in the OS market - Apple's recently upgraded Leopard OS, for example, which has a following of loyal users.
