A Kent university has reconfigured the support services that it offers by utilising a new IT service management system.
Canterbury Christ Church University has begun using Sunrise Software's Sostenuto system to help reconfigure a range of existing campus services including student accommodation, computer services and student finance, for the benefit of students and staff alike. Known as the i-Zone, the Integrated Support Services team at the university will run the system with support from Corporate Information Services.
Elaine Hopkins, information systems development manager at the university, said: "We wanted the new system to help us ensure we could take ownership of a student query from when the initial call is taken to when the query is resolved in each of the different areas."
The new system will be used to benefit 15,000 students and may encourage members of the university's 1,500 staff to further their existing knowledge through computer courses or additional IT training.
The Birmingham Post reports that 80 staff at Walsall belt-maker George Stuart have had support from the University of Warwick and the National B2B Centre in implementing practices like computer management.
