One of the creators of the internet, Vint Cerf, has called on IT professionals in the UK to volunteer.
The American computer scientist, who is often referred to as the "father of the internet", recorded a video for It4Communities asking people with IT skills to help charities in need of their expertise.
Mr Cerf is Google's vice president and is famous for co-designing the basic architecture of the internet with Robert Kahn.
"It is very important for the charities of the world, and especially here in the UK, to have access to information technology assistance from experts like yourselves," he said.
"Not all of them have that capability, and in some sense they live on the wrong side of the digital divide," he added.
The programme It4Communities matches IT volunteers with charities who need their help.
Last month, speaking at the Conservative Party conference, Jeremy Wright criticised the government for not doing enough to tackle the country's digital divide.
