The sales of ebooks will increase this year as makers start marketing their products outside of the US, the main market for such devices, an expert has said.
Stuart Miles, owner and editor of the independent consumer electronics news and reviews website, said that ebook reader sales should double this year as many new players enter the market and established manufacturers begin to sell outside the US.
"It is not a massively futuristic, crystal ball moment," said Mr Miles, "it's a pretty safe bet the market will increase," he said.
His comments emerge as the Consumer Electronics Association predicted that ebook reader sales will double again in 2010, it was widely reported last week.
Yet this forecast from the trade organisation for the US consumer electronics industry is not the potential success story it may appear to be, Pocket-lint has said.
In other news, a British firm is challenging the dominance of Amazon's e-reader - Kindle - as it launched its own version called Que at a gadgets fair in Las Vegas, a report has said.
