IT workers will not remain with their employers if they receive disappointing pay rises, a new survey has revealed.
The poll conducted by the recruitment group Badenoch & Clark found that just 29 per cent of IT professionals would stay with a company if they do not get the pay increase they are expecting.
This is the second lowest figure amongst all UK professions and illustrates the range of employment opportunities for people with IT training.
Matt Gascoigne, IT recruitment director at Badenoch & Clark, said that the sector needs to improve its people management skills.
He said: "These figures should act as a wake up call to anyone employing IT professionals.
"People management has not been an area of focus for many in the industry, but the possibility of employees willing to leave their employer at the drop of a hat should help to highlight the issue."
Earlier this year, Gartner revealed that technology professionals are better qualified than the overall population - with 55 per cent of IT staff having an undergraduate level qualification or higher.
