IT workers better than bosses

14:19 21st July 2008

Ninety per cent of IT workers believe that they can do a better job than their boss, new research has revealed.

The results of the survey of 500 jobseekers, by recruitment website Planet Recruit, compared positively with the 62 per cent of employees in all industry sectors who believed that they are better than their boss.

The recruitment site also recommended four tips for IT professionals hoping to further their careers; they are advised to volunteer for projects, demonstrate potential growth, think flexibly about career moves and look outside their company for job prospects.

A similar survey of 200 students, by the career development organisation (crac), revealed that the majority believed that the IT industry could offer bright career prospects and high salaries.

Information Technology continues to underpin growth for many large corporations, with Tesco announcing in April of this year that its internet sales now contribute five per cent of all revenue.
