People with IT training are in demand in the UK despite the recent recession, according to Richard Nott, website director at specialist IT recruitment website CWJobs.co.uk.
"In IT in the UK, even though we've been through the recession and everything else, there is still an underlying skills gap," Mr Nott said.
According to Mr Nott, "the more cutting edge skills" in particular are needed in banking and finance.
He went on to say that there is a good chance for people to train up in certain areas. He explained that this would allow those looking for work in IT to "make themselves more marketable".
The expert added that, while the last 18 months had been difficult on the IT jobs market, now "it's slowly coming back".
"I would expect the market to keep growing at a medium-pace rate for the next couple of years," he said.
Mr Nott was speaking at 360°IT, an IT infrastructure event which took place at Earls Court in London last week.
