Innovations in computer technology are now enabling businesses to send physical mail via their computers.
As software technology advances at an unabated pace, mailing companies would be wise to invest in IT training to ensure they keep up with the most recent developments.
The new imail service, launched by Business Post Group's UK Mail, will deliver mail to any address within the UK the day after it has been sent.
In a further competitive move, the service will be 60 per cent cheaper than posting a first-class letter and its carbon footprint 80 per cent less.
Documents will be electronically mailed and printed out, sorted and delivered by the UK Mail sorting office located closest to the destination address.
Chief executive of Business Post Group Guy Buswell commented: "With the launch of imail we have created the first alternative to first-class mail, providing a real choice to customers within the UK. Imail represents an important part of our business strategy and will expand our mail business far beyond its existing offering."
Earlier this month (November 13th) Business Post Group announced that 70 per cent of its night workers in Birmingham would be studying for an NVQ.
