IT recession-proof

Six IT fields have been named in the top 20 recession-proof professions, by an online job placement firm.

JobFox.com complied a study from online job listings - placed by employers since last November - and found that the top recession-proof occupations are sales representatives, software design and development, nursing, accounting and finance executives.

In July's monthly rankings of most wanted job candidates, five IT jobs made the top 20, which were software design and development, networking administration, database administration, software implementation analyst and testing assurance.

Barry Lawrence, a JobFox.com spokesman, said: "The general category of IT popped through as the biggest winner.

"We know our recruiters are dying to get people with those skills. Everybody is trying to improve the way they do business, to streamline in a tough economy."

This research arrives as leading economists warn that the British economy will struggle to avoid recession and unemployment will rise substantially next year.
