E-mail failure is still a major problem for IT managers, a new survey by an information storage company has revealed.
The poll of IT managers, conducted by the storage service firm Iron Mountain Digital, found that 52 per cent of companies had experienced an email failure in the past year.
Of these affected companies, one-third had downtime of two hours or longer and 17 per cent were without email for more than 11 hours.
Though these incidents are a common occurrence, a fifth of companies stated they had zero tolerance for an outage, as reducing Microsoft Exchange volume and preventing email downtime were amongst IT managers most important tasks.
Email phishing scams involving UK bank and building society customers, which trick people into revealing their bank details, have soared by 180 per cent in the past year, according to the payments body Apacs.
