IT managers are calling for calm and a long term strategy in the face of continued economic gloom, a new survey has disclosed.
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) conducted a poll of 1,118 senior executives, discovering that 79 per cent of employees in the IT sector view the financial downturn as presenting them with greater challenges.
Asked to justify this positive outlook, the research found that IT managers believe that a combination of experience, decisive action and long-term planning is key to business survival.
Jo Causon, director of corporate affairs at the CMI, argued that challenging times in business calls for greater leadership.
She said: "It is vital that the UKs leaders remain composed in the face of growing economic pressure because knee-jerk reactions will only serve to exacerbate the problem."
Earlier this month, a survey carried out by Parity revealed that two-thirds of IT professionals are failing to take action in driving green IT schemes in their workplace.
