The availability of IT jobs could become more prevalent in the near future as businesses look to outsource in a bid to cut costs, it has been claimed.
Attempts to drive down costs as businesses struggle to cope with the deepening recession mean there is an increase in the demand for IT outsourcing services, which could potentially result in more IT jobs in the sector.
Stan Lepeak, managing director of global research for global business advisory firm EquaTerra, said: "Despite populist backlash, the recession is likely to break through remaining resistance to outsourcing as business becomes more adept at using the tool to cut cost and improve efficiency."
He continued: "The need to control costs outweighs reluctance to initiate major change efforts like outsourcing in the midst of an economic crisis and regulatory uncertainty."
Research carried out by EquaTerra found 62 per cent of managed services providers expect demand to stay strong in the second quarter of 2009.
The UK government has recently committed to investing heavily in helping UK businesses tackle the recession, including offering funding to organisations that could help boost the availability of IT jobs.
