IT jobs market still 'lacks people with IT training'

07:49 8th October 2010

The IT market is still missing people with IT training and skills, according to Richard Nott, website director at specialist IT recruitment website CWJobs.co.uk.

"In IT in the UK, even though we've been through the recession and everything else, there is still an underlying skills gap in IT," he said.

He went on to say that "the more cutting edge skills" in particular are needed in banking and finance.

According to Mr Nott, people have a great opportunity to train in certain areas. He said this would allow those looking for work in IT to "make themselves more marketable".

While the last 18 months had "been tough" on the IT jobs market, now "it's slowly coming back", the expert said.

"I would expect the market to keep growing at a medium-pace rate for the next couple of years," he said.

Mr Nott was speaking at 360°IT, an IT infrastructure event which took place at Earls Court in London last month.
