IT innovation could consign to history the need to carry a computer around

20:30 29th December 2008

The availability of computers and internet access could be so pervasive in the future that it will be unusual to enter a space that does not have a computer facility.

This is the view of Systems Concept, which is an IT solutions company offering businesses research services as well as enabling small businesses to identify their IT training needs.

Such is the rapid rate of development in IT technology and the increasingly popular use of Cloud Thinking and mobile working that static computer use will eventually become a thing of the past.

Tom Stewart, joint managing director of System Concepts, explains further: "Many people use devices like Facebook and Cloud Thinking, [but] it's not the fact they're using it that's important. They're accessing something that's held elsewhere in the internet."

The University of California conducted a study in October 2008 on the impact of the internet on brain activity and found that surfing the internet prompts complex brain action and can enhance brain function.
