IT infrastructure 'should be adaptable'

IT infrastructure 'should be adaptable'

Businesses should ensure they maintain adaptable IT systems as technology now plays a vital role in remaining competitive, an expert has argued.

Chris Bone, enterprise products and solutions specialist at electronics company Fujitsu, said that companies need to ensure their IT infrastructure is flexible.

If structures are not agile enough to offer new services quickly, businesses can suffer, he suggested.

Such infrastructures can cost businesses more than they should, Mr Bone said, adding that they can have other effects on the firm. "There are missed opportunities in terms of maximising the potential of new business ventures," he said.

Indeed, IT infrastructure has become the "fundamental" aspect of corporate success, he argued.

His comments follow the release of the Dynamic Infrastructures and the Future of IT report from Fujitsu which suggested that close to two-thirds of IT leaders believe their infrastructure is not flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business.
