People working in the IT industry are more likely to use social media networks than those who do not have access to computers or the internet at work, a new survey has suggested.
Research carried out by multimedia online library Dadooda.com has revealed that anyone who is hooked up to the internet at work is more likely to use a range of social media tools, such as Facebook or Twitter, to stay in touch with friends and family.
Ben Camm-Jones, news editor at internet magazine Web User, explained: "How engaged people are with social media depends on a lot of factors, one of the most important of which is their line of work."
People working in the IT industry are more likely to have regular access to the internet at work and as such are more likely to be interested in and use social media technology.
Recent research published by uSwitch.com revealed that while 41 per cent of over 65s agree that social networking is the future and they should get used to it, over two-thirds aren't joining in, preferring not to socialise online.
