Apple's iPad is predicted to dominate the tablet market in 2011, according to a new report.
Data from DRAMeXchange, the research department of TrendForce, predicts that the iPad will continue to outsell its rivals and account for 80 per cent of total tablet shipments in 2011.
The research company's data shows that Apple has already sold 7.5 million iPads, just six months after its launch in April, and is estimating a 95 per cent market share at the end of 2010.
Total PC tablet sales for this year are predicted to reach 15.2 million and will no doubt be buoyed by a surge in demand in the run up to Christmas.
Tablet shipments in 2011 will be up by 237 per cent against this year, with total numbers estimated to reach 51.3 million.
However, Google's Android operating system has also shown strong growth in 2010 and will represent a definite threat to Apple going forward.
DRAMeXchange also forecast that netbook sales will be hit hard by the growth in the tablet market and will a show a slow down in year-on-year growth in 2011.
Samsung's rival tablet PC the Galaxy is reported to have sold over 600,000 units so far, suggesting it may also be a strong contender in the tablet market in 2011.
