Websites looking to make an impression on customers must focus on making it user-friendly and appealing, according to George Foster, creative director at Gravitaslondon.com.
"Usability obviously is the most important thing. Content is crucial - keeping it fresh and up to date. Making a site visible so it's well SEO'd from the start, which means using, say, jQuery rather than Flash, which picks up better on search engines," Mr Foster said in reference to what are the essential elements of websites.
He went on to say that the way information is delivered to potential clients is also important.
The expert said business owners have to make sure they provide customers with what they offer and that they are no "hidden extras".
"You only need somebody to have a bad experience where you fail to deliver and then they go off and tweet or talk about it with their friends. It's so much easier to lose customers than it is to gain one," he added.
