Companies are still getting their heads around ways to monetise on advertising using social blogging site Twitter, according to Andrew Girdwood, media innovations director at digital agency bigmouthmedia.
"Advertising on Twitter is still very much in the test environment stage," he said.
"Some companies will find it much easier to advertise on Twitter and that's because their business model just fits Twitter so much better than others," he explained.
The expert said that those already making money out of online content find it less difficult to succeed with their advertising strategy on Twitter than businesses selling high-end products and services, who are all but limited to "brand boosting activities".
His comments emerged as accounting and consulting firm Deloitte Only three per cent of the UK posted a survey which showed that only three per cent of consumers consulted visit websites frequently after seeing ads on social networks.
