Companies looking to maximise their use of IT industry developments should consider Twitter, a microblogging site that provides a versatile way of communicating with clients despite its limit on just 140-characters per update, an expert has said.
Tim Gibbon, director of offline and online communications consultancy Elemental Communications, said the platform has the potential to make every update instantly viral if done right.
"Given the open nature of Twitter, it is home to a number of popular and established resources that lends itself well to how it works including blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn and a number of other socially enabled technologies," he said.
The expert went on to say that Twitter gives businesses a "flexible, cost-effective method" through which they can reach out to people that other social driven resources are taking measures to limit.
He said social networking website Facebook, for example, has changed its terms and conditions, making it impossible to to create, promote and/or manage competition.
