Mobile phone makers will be influenced by Apple's latest gadget iPhone 5, according to James Holland, editor at Electricpig.co.uk, a gadget news website.
"The iPhone 5 seems finally ready to break cover, and as Apple's form holds steady [it] will influence every other manufacturer for at least the next 12 months," he said.
He said the first Nokia devices to run Microsoft's software have been promised soon and they could provide stiff competition to the iPhone and Google's Android.
Separately, he said Xbox Kinect is still high on most wish-lists in the gaming sector. The expert said the standard of games that use the technology "has improved dramatically".
He said the Xbox Kinect is set set to dominate this Christmas too.
His comments emerged as both Sony's next-generation PSP Vita and Nintendo's upcoming Wii U consoles have been pushed back into next year.
