The introduction of tablet computers such as Apple's iPad to the market could potentially bring change to the way [THE?] traditional media industry operates, according to Marius Cloete, head of research at the Professional Publishers Association (PPA), a trade association promoting the interests of the UK magazine and business media industry.
"Print remains at the core of many publishers' activities, but in recent years magazines have successfully extended their reach and engagement by delivering content across a variety of platforms," the expert said.
The representative of the PPA went on to say that these new devices have especially caught the attention of magazine publishers. This is explained because the tablets offer rich images and refreshing designs, the expert said.
The PPA spokesperson also pointed to industry commentators who think these new medium will draw in new consumers.
"The technology won't necessarily advance at the detriment of printed editions," the industry watcher added.
