Jumo, the social activism network, could become the leader in an increasingly popular category of social activism networks, and it is likely to lure users who wouldn't usually be interested in charitable causes, according to Rachel Hawkes, editor and co-founder of Social Media Portal (SMP).
Jumo stands out strongly against its competitors in the social philanthropy space thanks to its "seamless integration with Facebook", she said.
"What social media enables these sites to do is to mobilise their own personal social networks both off and online to create a real difference. We will inevitably see more sites like Jumo," Ms Hawkes added.
Jumo and its contemporaries "inspire and attract" users that usually are not interested in charity-related themes, the expert said.
Her comments followed the beta launch of Jumo, a new social network from one of the founders of Facebook that aims to connect individuals and organisations working to change the world.
