IT industry news: Smartphones 'set to change recruitment process'

06:26 22nd February 2011

Developments in the IT industry, particularly when it comes to smartphones, could potentially change the way recruiters and jobseekers interact as they become aware of how user-friendly these devices are, according to Paul Daley, director of HR consulting and services at Ochre House.

"The proliferation of the availability of the internet" will drive more businesses to advertise vacancies online," Mr Daley said.

The expert said that having mobile internet on their smartphones will allow those looking for a job to quickly apply for a job on the move, making the recruitment process much easier and potentially enjoyable.

"It's much more user-friendly than having to actually actively sit down at a desktop to look for a job," he said.

He went on to say that smartphones are set to be much more accessible and as their numbers rise.

His comments emerged as the Monster Employment Index UK revealed a 15 per cent rise in online job demand over the period between January 2010 and last month.
