Near Field Communication technology or NFC, a type of communication which facilities interaction between two devices to pay or share information, is set to become more present in smartphones, according to Howard Wilcox, senior analyst at Juniper Research.
“NFC technology, involving the embedding of tags in a wide range of devices and locations will have profound impact on business in future right across many verticals. Examples include NFC baggage tags in airlines and the NFC enabled car," Mr Wilcox said.
His comments emerged as the latest research from Westcoastcloud has revealed new details about smartphone saturation.
The research showed one in ten parents in the UK feels it's appropriate for children as young as four years - old to own a mobile phone, while one in ten kids under the age of ten already owns an iPhone.
It also revealed the extent to which today's youngsters rely on technology following a study of 2,000 parents of children aged ten and under.
Seventeen per cent of parents bought their kids a phone after they succumbed to their child's pestering, the poll showed.
