Small companies in the UK looking to exploit Twitter's advertising capabilities may still need to wait for the platform to grow further, according to Kimberly Maul, an analyst at eMarketer.
"Twitter is an easy way for small businesses to connect with consumers, but the advertising platform is not quite ready for local or small businesses just yet," she said.
The expert went on to say that as the self-service option and more geo-targeting capabilities are developed and released, they will become a great platform for small and local businesses to reach specific audiences in their area.
"By having more targeting capabilities, small businesses can advertise to the proper audiences, and the self-serve option would allow them to invest as much money as they would like," she added.
Her comments emerged as recent data from Lab42 revealed only 10.9 per cent of Twitter users in the US think Promoted Tweets are annoying and take away from the experience.
