There is a lack of people with the right IT skills when it comes to installing renewable energy systems for green companies in the UK, according to Alex Randall, spokesman for the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT).
"Training and education are actually the key issues the government should be focusing on. The lack of people with the necessary skills is actually a bigger problem than resource depletion when it comes to moving to a zero carbon society," he said.
The CAT representative went on to say that one of the biggest problems for green companies in Britain is the need for more IT-trained candidates.
He went on to say that this lack of people might be the biggest issue preventing this country from moving quickly towards a more environmentally-friendly society.
Mr Randall said green enterprises are missing people with the right skills to even maintain the renewable energy systems after they are installed.
"This skills gap must become a priority for the government," he warned.
