Apps that provide simplicity and immediacy will become popular among Mac users, according to editor in chief of Macworld Group Mark Hattersley.
"From the customer point of view, programs have never been that exciting, but apps are so easy to put on or take off your system that it actually feels good," editor in chief of Macworld Group Mark Hattersley said.
He suggested the "simplicity" and "immediacy" of apps and the extension of the App Store experience mean their availability "will genuinely appeal to Mac owners".
His comments emerged as Apple announced that it has brought apps to it Mac computers, with the Mac App store now supplying more than 1,000 free and paid apps for desktops.
The App Store will help amateur developers make a living and it has already brought more professionalism in the industry, the expert said.
"From the developer side of things, what Apple's done is provide a really stable program environment that's quite easy to get into if you're a developer," he said.
