Good SAP consultants know as much about IT industry issues as business issues, according to Dave Pye, chief executive officer of the JM Group.
"The good ones have the business knowledge as well as the technical knowledge," he said.
He went on to say a good SAP implementation person for example, would have a business knowledge of the company they are providing a service to.
"So [it could be] in healthcare, or in finance, or in manufacturing. So if you have got SAP skills, plus manufacturing skills, plus good business knowledge then that is going to give you the best chance of getting a job," he said.
In other IT industry news, recruitment in many sectors of the UK economy, including the IT industry, is on the rise and that provides some good news for those looking for a job, according to Dave Fleming, sales director at consultancy Badenoch & Clark.
