Developments in the IT industry and the growth of social media has [HAVE?] encouraged users of all ages to get online and connected, according to Zara Rabinowicz, a technology expert.
"Whilst the youth of today are undeniably keen to get involved with new technology, the current market enables people of all ages to get online and connect to the types of data they need," Ms Rabinowicz said.
New versions of social media and tablet gadgets are two drivers of the broadening appeal of the internet, the expert said.
"The exponential rise of social media has evolved a long way from the MySpace generation, and is a source of content that people of all ages enjoy, whether they use it as a tool for communication, or as a news source," she added.
She said that the recent influx of tablets like the iPad are too expensive for the average teenager to buy, but they have been received with enthusiasm by adults of all ages.
The expert went on to say that the launch of the iPad magazines will be an even more attractive offering.
