Online marketeers are likely to take advantage of developments in the IT industry over the next 12 months, according to predictions released by Liverpool's Hit Search.
The company recently released its forecast of what lies ahead for digital marketing and marketeers this year. Here are some of the highlights included in the firm's white paper:
The research found that search engine optimisation (SEO) will become more complex in its management and delivery due to the local fragmentation of Google, and the growth of local search entities.
Users will also be able to experiment better cross-browser platform support thanks to the growing adoption of HTML5 towards the end of 2011, the white paper found.
When it comes to social networks, Bing’s Facebook results will become "much more prominent in the UK in the first quarter of 2011, which could lead to some interesting celebrity mishaps, promoting the awareness of managing your reputation online from the general public", it said.
The research also said this year is set to be huge for advertising on social networks as a year-on-year growth of 40 per cent in social media advertising is expected across all platforms.
Social networking site Facebook will grab the lion's share, while Twitter will launch a more public-facing advertising model, it revealed.
