A new UK organisation is set to tackle serious and organised crime, including cyber attacks, the Home Office said in a statement.
The new National Crime Agency (NCA) will also work to strengthen policing at the border and ensure proper local policing, the press release added.
According to the government, organised crime costs Britan public between £20 billion and £40 billion each year and affects the everyday lives of individuals.
The agency will be responsible for tackling these crimes which include child abuse, drug and people smuggling, illegal immigration, fraud, cyber crime and many other serious and organised crimes, the Home Office said.
"By creating a powerful new body of operational crime fighters - the National Crime Agency - we will confront the serious and organised criminality that threatens the safety and security of the UK," Home Secretary Theresa May said in a press release.
In other related news, the development of contactless mobile payments won't suffer from a serious threat from malware, according to Mike Hawkes, chairman of the Mobile Data Association (MDA).
