Most people using the internet will not be aware of the code to reduce internet piracy until it affects them directly, according to Mark Jackson, editor-in-chief of internet service provider (ISP) news source ISPreview.co.uk (ISPr).
He went on to say that the IT industry will only be able to see the public's reaction to the new proposed code of practice to reduce online copyright infringement once it has been applied.
"The first time that most become aware of this new system will be when it unexpectedly rears up to bite them," he said.
The Open Rights Group announced last week that internet users will be denied the ability to check whether the methods of collecting evidence of copyright infringement under the Digital Economy Act are trustworthy by Ofcom's draft code.
