Recruitment in many sectors of the UK economy, including the IT industry, is on the rise and that provides some good news for those looking for a job, according to Dave Fleming, sales director at consultancy Badenoch & Clark.
He said there were early signs that hiring would pick up this year.
"The beginning of the year is usually a busy period in the recruitment calendar as candidates look to re-evaluate their career direction - but an upturn in the market, and an increase in demand for candidates at firms who are embracing the upturn, has meant that this January has been particularly active," he said.
He said he expected accounting, finance and HR to be some of the industries that would see continued growth in the next year following a rather positive 2010.
The expert's comments emerged as the REC/KPMG Report on Jobs for January showed demand for permanent and temporary staff has risen the most for six and seven months respectively.
