Real-time search is still an unclear area for marketers, according to Jake Hird, senior research analyst at Econsultancy.
"[Real-time search] is something that will develop over this year and it will become a lot clearer, but at the moment it's still a very grey area," Mr Hird said.
"With real-time search the stream is now almost instantaneous, but nobody knows how that is being indexed or what you need to do to have that being indexed," he went on to say.
The expert also added that while real-time search could see negative publicity rise to prominence more quickly, companies should already be taking steps to manage their search engine presence.
Mr Hird said businesses should explore ways to manage their search visibility and they need to be taking everything into consideration.
In other IT industry news, internet search company Google recently announced the launch of Google Realtime Search, a webpage dedicated to real-time search features.?
