Businesses and individuals are not immune to the growing threat of identity fraud and they should be actively tackling it, according to Neil Munroe, chair of IFCAG.
"The general problem is not going away. ID theft and fraud is probably occurring in different ways as fraudsters move around and look for different ways of perpetrating it," said Mr Munroe.
He added that there is a great deal of fraud going on by involving criminals using the electronic world, such as people getting information from social media sites.
"There is also more and more sophisticated email phishing," he added.
The expert went on to say that identity fraud online can also damage businesses, who should be securing themselves suitably against such dangers.
He concluded that the more that firms embrace new technology to process orders, the more they need to make sure that they are dealing with genuine clients.
Last month, the National Identity Fraud Prevention Week took place in the UK to discuss identity fraud.
