The gambling innovations made on the iPad and other devices are "rapid, global and without geographical limitations", according to Clive Hawkswood, chief executive of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC).
"Tablet devices such as the iPad are providing the best features of PCs and mobiles," Mr Hawkswood said.
He went on to say that "important improvements in downloads and the continued roll-out of global broadband coverage" had been vital components in the expansion of remote gambling to new devices.
Gambling, like other user experiences on the web, also wants to be at the forefront of innovation, he added.
His comments followed the announcement of a new app by mobile gambling solutions provider Spin3. The app is designed to help players hone their poker skills on the move via their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
The app will help both basic and advanced players improve their tactics and knowledge of the game through hundreds of expert tips and an interactive quiz, the company said.
