The full deployment of cloud computing will show businesses its cost saving benefits in 2011, according to Dr John Bates, chief technology officer of Progress Software.
"Cloud computing is simply a natural evolution of virtualisation, service-oriented architecture and utility computing," he said.
He went on to say that "only when cloud technology is fully deployed in the enterprise space in 2011 will organisations start to witness the cost saving benefits."
Recent research has suggested that £148.7 billion per year could be generated by 2015 if companies across Europe adapt to cloud computing. Significantly, the research finds that the lion’ s share of this value will be provided through the adoption of private and hybrid cloud computing models.
Separately, Imperva unveiled recently unveiled a comprehensive strategy to help cloud providers, enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses protect data against external and internal threats.
Additionally, the company's spin-off Incapsula will help web hosters give small and medium-sized businesses affordable web application protection.
