Customers using broadband can still be disappointed with their serviced compare to the quality of fixed-line as some services are blocked, according to Edd Dawson, editor of broadband.co.uk, an independent broadband advice website.
Mobile broadband is "being used a lot but it isn't as good a service yet [as fixed-line broadband]", the expert said.
According to Mr Dawson, there are some mobile broadband operators preventing users from accessing services like the BBC iPlayer. "Some services, you can't get them, they're all blocked," he said.
He also said that those subscribed to broadband services will experience less speed that than what they originally promised as the bandwidth is distributed among all users of busy areas.
His comments emerged as mobile and broadband comparison Top10.com said in a report smartphone users in Britain have to cope with frustratingly sporadic 3G (third-generation) signals that can disappear completely several times at various points during the day.
