Video games that help people exercise could help people start a lifestyle where fitness takes a part, according to David Stalker, CEO of the Fitness Industry Association (FIA).
?The trend for fitness games is "likely to expand, definitely," describing Zumba as having taken the world by storm, he added.
"Generally, the fitness industry embraces the games, because certainly in the UK we're in a state where we need people to be active. If this is what gets them to take their steps into activity, common sense says they will try this and then other things," he said.
"Ultimately I want to see more people active, and I really think that they [fitness video games] are the first step," Mr Stalker said.
His comments emerged as Zumba Fitness topped the UK all-format charts for six consecutive weeks now, according to GfK Chart-Track.
