Companies in the UK most adopt a series of different mobile platforms in favor of old-fashioned operating systems in an effort to develop flexible IT solutions, according to David Akka, managing director UK, Eire and Nordic at Magic Software Enterprises.
"In the past an organisation could say 'my strategy is Blackberry', or 'my strategy is Apple iOS'. Right now, because it is pushed from a consumer market, the IT strategy needs to support all of them," he said.
"Enterprises must [stop thinking about] which platform to support and try to find generic tools to support multiple platforms," the expert continued.
His comments emerged as a recent report from Timico identified concerns among employers about workers bringing in their own devices to work, with 61 per cent of 200 businesses surveyed revealing their data on devices was not protected or they were unsure whether it was.
